Pengaruh Terapi Okupasional Terhadap Penurunan Tingkat Depresi dan Peningkatan Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Sehari-Hari pada Lansia




ABSTRACT

Objective To establish if a brief programme of domiciliary occupational therapy could improve the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and decrease depression among elderly people.
Design One group before and after intervention design.
Setting PSTW Abiyoso Yogyakarta.
Subjects 31patients with depression disorder.
Intervention Four weeks domiciliary occupational therapy or routine follow up.
Main outcome measures The Barthel activities of daily living index and Geriatric Depression Scale
Results By four weeks elderly who needs helped for his ADL (12.9%) changed to independent state and they who unable for his ADL (3.2%) changed to needs help. These patterns were statistically significant (P=0.0125). Elderly with moderate depression disorder increased to mild state (12.9%). These patterns were statistically significant too (P=0.023).
Conclusion The functional outcome and satisfaction of patients with depression can be improved by a brief occupational therapy programme.
